I'm a big fan of JSP's multi disc box sets. Their various artist box sets are excellently curated. Balance of classics and more obscure tracks is always well thought out, so listening experience is generally very rewarding. Their single artist box sets are just as good. Due to the vast amount of tracks, these single artist box sets are IMHO often definitive compilations.

Sound quality of these box sets ranges from ok to good. Most of JSPs' box sets consists of very old music (often recorded prior to WW2). Due to limitation of source material used, sound quality of these releases is often rather raw. Surface noise, clicks and pops are more rule than exception. This is not necessarily a bad thing, since AFAIK JSPs' box sets have never been botched with bad noise reduction or excess post-processing.

Very basic packaging of these compilations might not please friends of luxiours box sets. CDs are packed in jewel cases housed in a cardboard slipcase. Liner notes with recording and personnel information are usually split into several 4-page CD booklets.

These compilations are highly recommended for friends of old blues, country, bluegrass, jazz etc.
