CBS Records Inc. was a US holding company for CBS' recorded music operations, incorporated 17 November 1987 and operated under this name until 31 December 1990. It was officially acquired by Sony Corporation of America in 1988.

On January 1, 1991, Sony renamed the company to Sony Music Entertainment Inc. However, releases after 1990 also may be entered if showing this name. Some pre-1987 releases also exist with the legal suffix; this may be a printing error (instead of 'CBS Inc.') but should still be credited here.
