Magnetic Tape Engineering Corp. (Magtec), was a custom tape duplication facility for both 4-track open reel tape and 8-track cassettes. It was housed in a 30,000 square foot warehouse in North Hollywood, California. The facility housed approximately 56 slave machines with an automated duplicating system. It also acted as a distribution point for custom clients. Magtec was comprised of a number of former executives from Magnetic Tape Duplicators (MTD), which was purchased by Certron, a local manufacturer of blank tape, in April, 1968.
