Profile:

The company was established in early 1970 as "MCA Records (Canada)." On June 3rd, 1970 the company opened its new headquarters at 2450 Victoria Pk. Avenue. On December 1, 1970 it became a division of the newly-established conglomerate "Leeds Music (Canada) Limited.
Ran a vinyl pressing and tape duplication plant located in Cornwall, Ontario. Use "Pressed By" credit if ◎—∈—◎ (straight line through centre C is one long line touching both outer circles, the ends of the 'C' are almost touching the dissecting line) found in runout area. The plant shut down permanently in February 1976 after being inactive since July 31, 1975 due to a labour dispute. After this MCA Canada's records were pressed by MCA Records Canada.

As well, please keep in mind that during the transition period between company names, or occasionally for copyright purposes, you may see both names on the release. In those cases, either credit MCA Records Canada or both companies.

At various times the company has distributed in Canada the US labels: Chess, Chrysalis (1983 through to 1990), Decca, Geffen (beginning in 1991), DGC, GRP, Impact, Impulse, Island (1984 through to 1990), I.R.S., Mechanic, Motown (beginning in 1986), Narada, Reunion, Roadracer, Sona Gia, TVT, UNI, and Zebra.

MCA Records Canada also has handled distribution for the Canadian independent labels Duke Street, Justin Entertainment, and Trafic.

In 1995, Seagram acquired 80% of MCA Inc. "MCA Records Canada" was renamed "MCA Records Ltd. (UK)
