PDSC (short for Panasonic Disc Services Corp.), a subsidiary of the Japanese Matsushita Electric Ind. Co., Ltd., was a DVD manufacturing company located in Torrance, California, USA. The plant commenced operations in 1997, and closed in 2015.
In 1999, PDSC went into a t venture with Matsushita Universal Media Services.
PDSC also entered into a t venture with Eastman Kodak Co. in 1999 to establish Matsushita Media Manufacturing LLC of America, a company that aimed to increase DVD and other optical disc manufacturing capabilties available to both Eastman Kodak and Panasonic, operating out of Eastman Kodak's existing plants in Youghal and Guadalajara. However, Eastman Kodak decided to cease its CD-R manufacturing operations at the end of 2001, and sold its share of Matsushita Media Manufacturing LLC to PDSC.
Matsushita Electric sold PDSC to Technicolor Universal Media Services. The DVD plant in Torrance, CA was however retained by Matsushita Electric.
PDSC can be identified by its acronym printed in the matrix mirror band stamped in the disc hub area, usually in combination with SID codes IFPI LL0* and V9**. Sometimes PSDC may not be named at all, but it can be identified and credited based on these SID codes.
