White Jazz Records

Profile:

Swedish record label founded in Stockholm by Carl von Schewen at House of Kicks in the mid-1990s. Mainly and initially to release The Hellacopters debut album Supershitty to the Max! in 1996.

After the massive success of this album and this band, they decided to continue through the closed door. White Jazz Records later signed record deals with, among others, Gluecifer, Powder Monkeys, Yes Men, Maryslim, The Nomads, Dee Rangers, Psychopunch, Satirnine, and others and released many successful albums in the garage rock and punk rock genres.

The label also released two compilation albums; Swedish Sins '97 (1997) and Swedish Sins '99 (1999), both of which are excellent period documents of the Swedish rock scene in the late 1990s.

After a few years, von Schewen sold the White Jazz label to MNW (Music Net Work), broke away and started his new label Wild Kingdom Records. Some artists, such as Maryslim, then chose to leave White Jazz Records, to sign a new contract with Wild Kingdom Records instead.
