ODS Optical Disc Service

Optical Disc Service GmbH was a German full service media manufacturer founded in 1998 in Dassow, . The company began manufacturing CDs in 1998 and DVDs in September 2001.

History:

In late 2004, Optical Disc Services GmbH acquired www.ods-scandinavia.com).

On 3 January 2005, ODS , a small DVD manufacturing plant, was opened near Paris.

In May 2006, Optical Disc Services GmbH acquired the Romanian CD manufacturing plant ODS Business Services.

In January 2007, Optical Disc Service Inc. acquired a DVD manufacturing facility in Little Rock, AR, USA, Deluxe (7)) from Rank in 2006.

In October 2007, bankruptcy proceedings were opened, and in February 2008 production was finally stopped. Since then there have been several trials or charges against the former management including fraud, tax evasion, subsidy fraud and professionally patent infringement.

After the insolvency, the Romanian plant became independent under Romanian ownership and in 2008 was renamed ODS Optical Disc Solutions.

A plant was also active in Goleniow, Poland, which was acquired in February 2008 by the Spanish company Iberdisc Optical Storage Solutions (Iberdisc).

A British subsidiary, ODS Business Services Ltd. was also active, and acquired the assets of Thamesdown SDC Ltd in March 2006, including a CD/DVD manufacturing plant located in Swindon. ODS Business Services Ltd. went into istration in April 2008.

In May 2008, it was announced that the Dassow plant had been acquired by the Danish company Dicentia.
