Green Vinyl Records

Profile:

Record manufacturing plant in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, founded in 2021.

Records manufactured by Green Vinyl Records are not made by the traditional method of pressing vinyl but based on an injection moulding process, using a mixture of different types of polyethylene (PET) instead of PVC. Please mark these releases with PET in the Format Free Text field and not "Bioplastic", as this is a completely different material.

Their mouldings can be recognized by the "GVR Sound" logo in the runouts.

Green Vinyl Records B.V. was incorporated on 21 September 2021 as a subsidiary of Symcon B.V., the Dutch branch of Symcon. The project is a cooperation between Symcon B.V., Polymer Research Group B.V., Geelen installaties, Koot Automation & Service, MPB Mechanical Parts, Record Industry, Stichting Fontys, Hogeschool Toegepaste Natuurwetenschappen and Mikrocentrum.

Managing director: Harm Theunisse.

I have a few of these Green Vinyl pressings, and they're pretty noisy - no 'pops' per se, but lots of squiggles, hisses, and short whooshes - bad noise characteristics, I would say, and nowhere near 'audiophile' - I'll take PVC over PET any day.....and another thing, anytime you recycle plastic you make the plastic more toxic than ever....so much for "eco"....!
