Profile:

Congolese distribution and publishing company, based in Léopoldville (called Kinshasa since 1966). Full name: Edition Congolaise du Disque.

It belonged to the constellation of companies chaired by Eugène Willy Pelgrims de Bigard, who by the mid-sixties had a quasi-monopoly in Congo. Through its sister companies African were established. Ecodis also established s with other African distributors for the purpose of releasing recordings from the Fonior catalogue throughout the continent.

A manufacturing branch called Macodis (Manufacture Congolaise du Disque) was founded in 1955. In 1971 it became Studios Fonior-Decca in Brussels (Belgium).

Among the local labels represented by Ecodis in 1970 were: Editions Wai Kiki, Ya-Tous.

Ecodis was also an exclusive distributor in the Democratic Republic of Congo for several major international labels, including The Gramophone Co. Ltd. group.
