Oldies 45

Profile:

Oldies 45 was a reissue sub-label of Vee-Jay Records started in 1963 to distribute past 45 rpm singles from Vee-Jay and other independent labels. Whole Page Advert in Billboard # October 5th 1963 Page 17. Some Capitol Records assumed control of the US rights to the "Introducing the Beatles" (Please Please Me) LP. The label was continued into the Seventies, mainly by bootleggers. At the 25th of january 1964 release of the Billboard magazine, page 53, the label d "New Releases Of Great Oldies", as well as "Previously Made Available".
The list of "Previously Made Available" incl. OL-1 to OL-75 / The list of "New Releases Of Great Oldies" incl. the cat#s OL-76 to OL-130. This should help to date the singles proper.
In addition, the August 8,1964 issue of Billboard introduced Vee Jay's new "Teen Fun Cards" marketing campaign along with a "complete list" of Oldies 45 releases through OL-163.
Official releases have:
-the ® symbol on the labels
-a stamped MR in a circle (Monarch Records logo) in the dead wax, a stamped audiomatrix logo (mastering company) or both.
