Erdenklang and its publishing company Ulrich Rützel in Hamburg in October 1981. The remarkable technological development of music computers during the 70s and 80s (Fairlight) instigated exciting new ways of sound design and computer aesthetics, and computer-acoustic music became Erdenklang's philosophy.

In an attempt to widen the musical spectrum and to move past the little innovative purely electronic styles Rützel launched his sub-label Da Music.
