Hello everyone,
I've been meaning to finalize and showcase a mix of the absolutely incredible Japanese Junglists known as Cycheouts / Cycheouts Ghost (Wired For Sound mix (which has been included here, with a remix as well). They've been around since the early nineties, making Jungle and putting on live shows with their own MCs ing. They have an undying love for the Amen, and there are lots of samples from classics Jungle tracks that I'm sure you'll all recognize. Information on them is a little scarce if you don't speak Japanese, and finding copies of some of their releases is near impossible. There are lots of mixes of their music around (most of them by the Cycheouts themselves), but none of them take a purely Jungle/DnB approach, fusing together lots of their others works that fall outside of that paradigm. So, that's where I come in! This mix contains only their obviously Jungle/DnB tunes, but expect to also hear chiptunes, weird industrial samples, and lots (and I mean LOTS) of swing beats (but don't worry, no Body Rock clones here!). This isn't necessarily a collection of their "greatest hits", and there were quite a few more that I would like to have included (like a full remix of the original Amen Brother...), but for the theme of the mix (and keeping it about an hour long) I think I did my best with the selection. Cycheouts' music probably isn't for everyone, but I ask that you listen and keep an open mind. Some of their tracks are truly impressive pieces of music, and some of my favorite Jungle ever. どうぞ, listen!

Respect for doing this, always thought these guys are fun though I don't have much by them. When I toured japan in 2006 someone gave me a live DVD by them that was pretty fun, dunno where it ended up though. -

Cheers, Pete! Ever consider featuring them on the blog, maybe? They've been around for such a long time...though I realize they may not quite fit the narrative. Still releases like King Of The Beats might fit the bill even if they're a little later than your usual features. -

All over this! I love their jungle - manages to be both a solid example of the style and quite different at the same time. Like the best Japanese artists often seem to do.
I used to have a copy of this: https://www.discogs.sie.com/Various-Red-Alert-Records-Compilation-1/release/1312087 and the Cycheouts tracks on that are great, from memory.
But definitely haven't heard as much of their work as I'd like, so I'm keen to give this a listen! -

I actually thought you in particular might enjoy this. You're right, they have this oddly accurate portrayal of Jungle as a whole but their own weird twists make it so unique. -

Nice, will definitely give this a listen!
You might want to check this out - I've been helping them out with a project to get all their old releases available on Bandcamp: https://stereorecords.bandcamp.com/ -

I been on the fence about that for a while, is any of this from actual masters? I saw a comment on the King of the Beats page and it said it was from a tape.
Edit: Well I went for the sub anyways. Still curious though if these are mostly cd / tape rips or pulled off of master tapes. -

They unfortunately no longer have any of the master tapes for most everything (ゴッドOD have provided masters for a few of their releases) but everything is being sourced from the best quality available (lossless from CD); the cassette rips therefore aren't going to be perfect quality, which is why they're included as free subscription bonuses rather than paid releases. -

Cheers! It was actually your recommendation to go to Marginal Records in Osaka that really got me started on this whole thing!
I've been watching the updates to the page with a lot of interest...but it also bit me in the ass! Someone in Japan listed Back From The Dead Trax for sale and I had to jump on it as it's quite rare as I'm sure you know...but of course they wanted to make a buck on it so I paid way too much for it and, sure enough...just a few weeks later you listed it on the bandcamp! Oh well, I also got some other rarities in the order so it was worth it.
Are there any plans to maybe get some of the Red Alert or Virtuacore releases available online? -

Ooh, I missed this. Can't listen due to hearing issue but <3 that it happened. Got some files of other Japanese jungle you might dig.
