The artist-profile of Hayes (who is NOT the US-singer Isaac Hayes!) includes the ANV "Isaac Hayes" without having any release which uses this ANV!

Any hint how to clean up that profile?

Edit after 9 years:
I was asked to describe what an GHOST ANV is.

Well as far as I can say, a GHOST ANV means an ANV (Alternate Name Variation) which appears on an artist's profile page and leads to no page when one clicks it! An error code 404 will appear instead.

Anybody with a better explanation is welcome!

hmm...thats a dilly of pickle - seems the release that improperly created the ANV was may have been deleted, but the link on the artist page remained.

Maybe it would help to re-edit one of the remaining submissions to the wrong "Isaac Hayes"-ANV and change back after saving?

No, it didn't work!
I changed both entries of the "Hayes"-page to "Test Hayes", waited a while an d then re-changed it to "Hayes".
"Isaac Hayes"-ANV is still there!
Needs to be reported as a bug!

I've seen that before,
I don't know why but sometimes some old unlinked credit role (like Executive Producer, or Written by,...) when submitted with ANV create things like that.
The only way to correct this is to find the release where Isaac Hayes is credited as an ANV for Isaac with an unlinked credit role, and to remove the ANV (which shouldn't be here at the first place because unlinked credit role shouldn't have ANV's)...

ah, ok, sorry. I've totally misunderstood then what "GHOST ANVs" means, as this thread is about. I'll try one day then in a new thread. I don't think I understand what a ghost ANV is then.

A ghost ANV is when there is an incorrect ANV on an artist page, but when you click on it you get an error - usually because it is an ANV on an unlinked credit (written by is the most common). You have to find the error by release and fix it that way.

For example here:
Bert Russell has the ANV Medley but when you click on Medley it leads to no release!
the same exists for
Phil Medley with the ANV Russell
which indicates that there must be (at least) one submission which has mixed these two writers AND uses the ANV function with an unlinked writer credit!

It's hard to find this special submission to correct the credits!!

Wow, that's a tough one because 'Spike' is part of many of his ANVs...and he doesn't have a lot of writing credits (I checked all versions of those releases and didn't find it...)

I'll have to think on this as to what the credit could be and then dig a little deeper...

First things first - fixed this . Penniman has some valid credits, but the other release has been updated.

Update: I've gone through roughly half of the Little Richard pendings thus far and I found and corrected 3 ghost ANVs - but none of them little Richard's!

I'll keep looking later today,

What string do you use? I tried Google and didn't find it...

I just searched site:discogs.sie.com "Jean Corti" and went through the results looking for Jean Corti* (indicating an ANV).

Hrm...didn't think of that string - I tried "Discogs"+"Jacques Brel"+"Jean Corti", but that clearly didn't work, and I tried a similar Discogs search and went through ~225 releases and couldn't find it :(

Since the Discogs search engine changes it is much more tricky to find these - only the ANV is returned by the search and then only imperfectly. The PAN is not searched at all, AFAICS.

It is similar on Google - the name Jacques Brel did not appear on the page for the release as it was originally submitted, only the invalid ANV shows:

Using the same technique it should be possible to find the R. Penniman credit, i.e. via Google search discogs.sie.com "R. Penniman" and look out for R. Penniman* following an invalid or non-linking credit role, but I've tried it without success so far.
