Have you ever bought a Vinyl simply just for the design and not for the music?

I am collecting research to see what draws people into buying vinyl album covers especially now because they may not be as popular as they were when they first came out. Any answers would be great. -

Make your own choice. https://www.discogs.sie.com/group/thread/513411?message_id=5044704#5044704 & is this another opinion poll? -

I did buy half a dozen records solely for the cover, only when it was a case of this is so bad I can't believe my eyes, or when it was made by an artist I really like and maybe already "collect". In either cases, those records always were cheapos.
Besides that, I do collect a handful of artist music records, releases where the musician is mainly known and sought out for his work in the fine art field (Hermann Nitsch and Karel Appel come to mind). -

If it's rather odd and not expensive. -

Yup. I'm not too self-righteous to it it. It's only been a couple times, but if I know it's not going to be re-pressed and it's probably rare due to the nature of the artwork, AND I like the art, then why not?
Obviously I buy records for the music. At the same time, I'm not going to buy a record with a beat up, torn, drawn on, cover. The artwork and the music go hand in hand for me. Nothing better than an album cover that makes you stare at it forever looking at all the details. I also display them on the wall of my music room and change them out regularly. -

Album Covers and artwork have drawn me to bands and music throughout my life. An important part of it all for me. An interesting cover will lead me to check the band out. Not sure if I have ever bought an album on the strength of the cover alone. Possibly.
My office and music room is almost completely covered with framed album covers. Some of the best … Yes (Roger Dean), Genesis , Floyd, Tangerine Dream ( Rubycon and Phaedra ) one of my faves is Elton John - Captain Fantastic. -

Only once in my case, that being Boss Brothers - Stalling For Time. Turns out it was an amazing LP, ignoring the questionable album cover. -

Listened to one of their songs just now, isn't the vocalist the same guy from MDC? -

all the time, well at least 1000 times
Generally speaking, someone who takes the time to make an interesting sleeve....or even label, gives a good indication they also did the same with the music, so why not, if they presented it well, it generally a very good indication of the music quality -

I have bought an album because I liked the cover a number of times. Many I had never heard of the group & more often than not, I wind up really enjoying the music as well. There have been some absolute stinkers but I keep it anyway just for the cover. -

That's funny. That's all we used to do back in the day, lol. You might know one song if it was on the radio or heard a snippet of it somewhere but that was it. Sales were ALL based on album art, lol. I instantly thought of Gene Simmons solo album! HA! I bought that sucker based on the cover alone and was SORELY disappointed, lol. -

Not soley for the cover but I will definitely search for a more interesting cover or a colour variant of a vinyl I want if theres the option. I am also definitely more incline to purchase a vinyl if the colour is fun and different. -

This:
King Guion And His Orchestra – Emotion, Inc.

In my defense, it cost $1.99 at my local Goodwill. -

Yes, but not in 40 years, As a teen and in my 20's i would. In the Court of the Crimson King a prime example. I had no idea of who they were, or style of music, but the cover was so cool. -
