American composer, born February 16, 1907 in Rochester, New York, USA, died December 24, 1980 in Gainesville, Florida, USA.

In addition to writing popular songs, Wilder also composed classical pieces for exotic combinatio's of orchestral instruments. His classical numbers, which often had off-beat, humorous titles were strongly influenced by jazz. He also wrote eleven operas.

Inducted in the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1983.
