Caldwell had a blue-eyed soul voice, played guitar and piano, worked as a songwriter and sat firmly in the saddle in all possible styles. He accompanied Boz Scaggs, composed film music and released numerous solo albums. With the later much covered "What You Won't Do For Love" he landed a top ten hit in 1978.
