Jörg Knoch grew up as the son of an actress in Munich, where he performed in children's roles in various films, including "Königswalzer" (1955) and "Weil du arm bist, musst du früher sterben" (engl.: "Because you're poor, you need to die earlier" - 1956). To this end, he received his first violin-, piano- and guitar-lessons. He was a member of the Jörg (12)" in 1967 and 1968 a total of four singles on vinyl.

- "Oh, Marie" (engl.: "Tale Of Maria")

In the late 1970s he lived for some time on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia. There began the idea for the Goombay Dance Band, which brought him his greatest successes 1979/1980. The biggest success in was the song "Sun Of Jamaica". The single has been sold 11 million times. International the single was topped by "Seven Tears" (1982), the title was in England for 12 weeks in the charts, and 3 weeks to place 1. Oliver Bendt lives with his family in Norderstedt, near Hamburg.
