Don Fury

Profile:

Famous New York City hardcore vocalist, producer and long-time producer for the band Quicksand. His credentials for production include most of the early New York City hardcore bands that started it all including Agnostic Front, Burn, Farside, GG Allin, Zach De La Rocha's Inside Out, Into Another, 108, Project X, Ray and Porcell, Shelter, Shift, Sick of it All, Side by Side, Snapcase, Warzone, and Absolution.

He also played a major role in starting the CBGB's hardcore matinee shows as well as owning and operating Don Fury Studio. It started out as a small rehearsel room in Manhattan and eventually grew into a full fledged recording studio, working with tons of scene oriented bands and labels including Revelation Records & Equal Vision Records among many others.

Fury is not Don's actual surname. The name originated when Don decided to front his own band. Not wanting to use his given name, he considered adopting his great uncle's surname, Fiore, because it somewhat sounded like "fury." To make the pronunciation clearer, he initially altered the spelling to Fiori. However, Carol Costa, his wife at the time and manager of CBGB, argued that people wouldn't associate "Fiori" with "fury" and convinced him to use the name Donny Fury instead. He performed and recorded under that moniker. Later, when he was recording bands, Vinny Stigma became a friend and called him Don Fury instead of Donny Fury and the name has stuck with him ever since.
