Marie is a graduate of fine arts from a Beaux Arts School, and of liberal arts from the Sorbonne in Paris, .

She began her career collaborating with Prince, deg costumes for the Under The Cherry Moon movies and some music videos. Among others she designed for like Nathalie Cole, Don Henley, Tina Turner, N'Dea Davenport, Steve Winwood and George Clinton, to name a few.
